One of the tasks of adult learning is to turn our gaze inward and put our house in order so that we can sort out who we really are from the life we were given. What we believe usually comes from what we learned when we were young and it is often out of sync with our core values, with what we most long for. Identifying your core values and beliefs gives you a foundation from which to build an authentic life. Unpacking hidden beliefs that keep you stuck and trying out new and sometimes radically different perspectives allow you to consciously choose beliefs that are in alignment with what makes you feel most alive.

Emotions are powerful messengers that let us know whether we are moving toward or away from that which gives us joy. Many of us have learned to shut down our emotions or put them to the side, to have a “stiff upper lip” or to “grin and bear it.” Emotions that have not been expressed don’t go away and tend to spill out unbidden and wreak havoc in our lives. Embracing the shadow allows us to reclaim the energy and yearning at the heart of these parts of ourselves that we banished from our awareness when we were younger. Learning to understand and work with your emotions allows you to take responsibility for your choices and actions.

We learn to trust ourselves and our inner wisdom by exploring different ‘ways of knowing’ from what is taught in school. Working with me, you will practice experiential knowing by focusing on the direct experience of the present moment, rather than on interpretation or discussion; learn to listen to your body and its unique ways of communicating; strengthen intuitive knowing by paying attention to messages and images that come when you ask for them; and develop your ability to use the imagination as a way to access to information from your inner intelligence. With these enhanced skills, you will find new ways to chart your own path towards the future you envision.

When you live from a larger and more integrated sense of who you are, you stand in a place of new possibilities. This is a place of beginnings, where you step beyond what you already know and into discovery, into partnership with what lies beyond the known.
